About - Even It Up!

Looking for a job is a tricky business, especially in this economic climate. Generally, there are all sorts of barriers and obstacles a jobseeker has to overcome in order to even be offered a job! From our research, it seems that many employers and recruitment companies just don't treat jobseekers either fairly or respectfully. This blog questions the recruitment practices that permeate many organisations, and is a companion to the Even It Up! website.

The Even It Up! website provides jobseeker experiences to other jobseekers. It gives The Lowdown on recruitment, selection and interview practices of recruting organisations, from the best to the worst. For more information please visit http://www.evenitup.com.au

12:42pm Thursday 13 August 2009 - Even It Up!

Filed under the You’ve Got To Be Kidding! category, Diane Lee received an email yesterday from Entree Recruitment asking her to vote for them in the 2009 SARA Awards.  Given that Diane has only had one (less than satisfactory) interaction with this recruitment company, you have to wonder about the genuineness (as well as rigour [...]

There has been quite a bit of dialogue lately from HR professionals, recruiters and journalists regarding the introduction of the Fair Work Act 2009, in particular whether jobseekers are “more protected” by this legislation. Sadly, and despite the rhetoric, this does not seem to the be wholly the case. According to Complispace, it seems that while the [...]

5:57pm Wednesday 15 July 2009 - Even It Up!

Dear Diane, This (see email below) is probably not a direct reason for avoiding agencies but a very strong motivator.  You may be aware of the PSI legislation (a contractor cannot earn 80% or more of their income from one source) and it would seem that the ATO is just going to the large ICT recruitment [...]
